Per un Manifesto della nuova ceramica:
calendario di incontri per investigare la ceramica del XXI secolo
ICA Milano, Via Orobia 26
Thursday October 28th 2021 – Thursday March 3rd 2022, 6:30 PM
Fondazione ICA Milano presents Per un Manifesto della nuova ceramica, a special calendar of six talks curated by Irene Biolchini dedicated to the art of ceramics of the XXI century, which aims to investigate the art of contemporary ceramics. The meetings will be held from Thursday October 28th 2021 to Thursday March 3rd 2022 at 6.30 pm at the headquarters of the Fondazione ICA Milano – Istituto Contemporaneo per le Arti.
Starting with a recent text, published by Gli Ori and available at the Spazio Gamma in Milan, entitled VIVA. Ceramica Arte Libera, curator and professor Irene Biolchini proposes a series of meetings for Fondazione ICA that aim to build with choral progress into a real Manifesto of the new ceramics. At the end of the meetings, a document will be drawn up with a united signature, as to affirm who the ceramic artists are today that are accepting the multiple contradictions of every identity and any declaration of intent.
The first appointment of the cycle sees an open dialogue between Irene Biolchini and Ugo La Pietra, who recently published Terre. Italian artistic craftsmanship in contemporary ceramics, with Marsilio editor. The encounter aims to give as complete an image as possible of the context referenced, focusing also on the authors and creators who have been working with ceramics for years yet in different situations from those that will be covered during the following talks. Biolchini and La Pietra intend to draw a useful path to define that common terminology of ceramic art that has always been sought, while recognizing the particular angle from which each of them observes the panorama of this form of art.
The following talks are organized for groups of artists united by the geographical context of origin or by belonging to neighboring areas of research.
The meetings are open to the public upon reservation by e-mail addressed to rsvp@icamilano.it.
Green Pass requested at the entrance.
